Naomi Arnold is a contemporary pianist, composer, songwriter and singer. Though classically trained, Naomi’s expansive repertoire includes her original compositions as well as contemporary Christian & popular ballads. Naomi’s
musical skills enable her to perform a wide spectrum of music ranging from soothing melodies to the challenging and exhilarating arrangements of numerous well-known composers. Naomi has been performing since the age of 9 and composing/arranging music since the age of 15. She has performed at a variety of public and private venues in the United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, India and Sri Lanka.
Born on the island of Sri Lanka, Naomi began her musical training at a very young age. She began singing on stage at talent contests as a kindergartner. She studied music through a number of highly trained piano instructors who were certified by the Royal Schools of Music (London, England) and The Trinity College of Music (London, England). Her exemplary musical achievements earned her a myriad of awards by age 18. Music was an integral part of her life and she continued to play the piano in school, church, bands, concerts/recitals, weddings and other events as a teenager. Upon graduation from a private international school, Naomi completed her undergraduate studies in Minnesota and Virginia.
Naomi is the oldest of three girls and hails from a very musical family. She credits much of her musical inspiration to her parents. In fact, her father was a member of a very successful musical quartet called the Four Chords. The group was featured on Sri Lankan radio in the early 60’s and performed in concerts in Sri Lanka and throughout South East Asia.
Naomi has been married since August 1990 and has been blessed with two sons. In December 2002, one month prior to recording her inaugural album, Moments in Time, Naomi had a stillborn son, Brady. The depth of her anguish was expressed in the composition of Brady's Song, dedicated to her son's memory. Then in September 2005, Naomi suffered yet another stillbirth, her daughter, Danielle.
Upon learning the tragic news, Naomi painfully cried out, "Not Again!" Subsequently, while grieving the loss of Danielle, she composed Danielle's Song, in addition to the inspiritional ballad, Not Again. This song depicts both the pain of having lost two children, yet finding the strength to carry on because of her deep faith in God and the love of her family and friends.
All three titles are included in Naomi's latest album, From My Heart. She has been invited to speak and share these poignant songs with other families who have suffered similar losses. Naomi acknowledges that her musical abilities are a gift from God, and is honored to be able to bless, encourage and perhaps even inspire others through her music.
